Home remedies for jock itch can relieve the troubling symptoms of the problem and cure the infection in a short time. Jock itch is caused by fungus which resides on the skin without causing any trouble, due to certain reasons the growth of fungus increases and it spreads in the groin area to cause jock itch. The fungus responsible for causing jock itch is Tinea cruris, it thrives and grows in warm and moist areas, sometimes jock itch is also accompanied by athlete's foot and ringworm. This problem affects males in much higher number compared to women, for causing infections microorganisms and environmental factors are largely responsible. Regular friction and humidity in the genital area causes jock itch. People leading active lifestyle like sportspersons and athletes or those who wear tight undergarments and undergo physical stress during the day accumulate sweat in the genital region, sweat can make skin moist and weak and due to friction caused by undergarments skin gets bruised which allows microorganisms to pass under the skin to cause jock itch. Diabetes and weak immune system also cause jock itch as body's defense mechanism is not strong enough to control the growth of microorganisms. Direct skin contact with the infected person, sharing towels and clothes with the infected person, bacterial infection and people suffering with athlete's foot are at high risk of getting the infection causing jock itch.
